Séminaire Numapresse: La critique cinématographique (14 mai 2018, Maison de la recherche Serpente)

La troisième séance de séminaire du projet ANR Numapresse, consacrée à la critique cinématographique, aura lieu lundi 14 mai, de 13h30 à 15h30, à la Maison de la Recherche, 28 rue Serpente, 75006 Paris (salle S001). Myriam Tsikounas, professeur à l’université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne où elle dirige ISOR (Images, Sociétés, Représentations, équipe interne du Centre d’Histoire du XIXe, membre partenaire de Numapresse) et spécialiste de l’Histoire par l’image donnera la réponse à Pierre-Carl Langlais (Université Paul Valéry – Montpellier 3, RIRRA21 / CELSA, GRIPIC), qui présentera une cartographie de la critique cinématographique des années 1920 à 1940 grâce à des outils de reconnaissance automatisée de genres.

Résumé
Cette présentation s’inscrit dans le contexte d’une réévaluation de la contribution des quotidiens généralistes à l’élaboration de la critique de cinéma et, plus largement à la médiatisation du cinéma en tant que phénomène culturel. Les outils de reconnaissance automatisée des formes journalistiques développées au sein du projet Numapresse permettent de repérer les évolutions structurelles de textes « ordinaires » (critiques, publicité, portrait, interview…) sur une très longue durée. Nous proposerons une cartographie en mouvement des « pages cinémas » de plusieurs quotidiens numérisés (Le Matin, Le Petit Parisien, L’Intransigeant…) pendant la période de l’entre-deux-guerres, en tirant parti des incertitudes de la modélisation pour repérer les proximités génériques.

L’identification du nom des acteurs et actrices et du titre des films par recoupement avec les grandes bases numérisées (Wikidata, Open Movie Database) permettra également de dégager des premières pistes pour évaluer le traitement médiatique des productions cinématographiques et le processus de « starification ».

La présentation constitue également une contribution aux travaux de Numapresse sur l’identification automatisée des formes journalistiques.
