Séminaire Numapresse : Reportage et correspondance de guerre (23 octobre 2018) à Neuilly

La première séance de séminaire portant sur le reportage et la correspondance de guerre aura lieu le mardi 23 octobre à Neuilly sur Seine (CELSA, 77 rue de Villiers), salle 103 (1er étage, sur la galerie) à 14h. En tant que genre emblématique du journalisme mais aussi en tant que défi méthodologique pour la classification automatisée, la couverture médiatique de guerre est l’un des terrains privilégiés pour expérimenter de nouvelles approches. Cette séance, également transmise en visioconférence sur les sites de Bruxelles (Salle DB.11.154), Montpellier (Salle 06) et Québec (Salle DKN-3237), inaugure un séminaire progressif sur deux ans qui se tiendra tous les trois mois dans différents lieux. Ainsi, à chacune de ses séances, le séminaire « Reportage et correspondance de guerre »  travaillera à partir d’un corpus circonscrit à un événement bien couvert par les reporters et correspondants français entre les débuts du reportage pendant le Second Empire et la Seconde guerre mondiale. Chacun de ces essais contribuera à affiner l’identification du genre et l’enrichissement des textes par des données complémentaires et à prendre compte les mutations du reportage et de la correspondance sur le temps long. Il permettra aussi de faire progresser les nouveaux outils d’analyse à distance de corpus volumineux et d’établir des méthodes de text mining adaptées aux contenus et formes médiatiques.Le premier séminaire aura pour objet les reportages et correspondances de la guerre Italo-éthiopienne (1935-1936).

Mélodie Simard-Houde (Université Laval, Québec) : « Une approche croisée des reporters et reportages de la guerre d’Abyssinie : outils numériques, poétique du support et trajectoires » . Cette présentation souhaite croiser plusieurs méthodes afin de mieux saisir les enjeux des pratiques du reportage et de la correspondance de guerre au sein d’un corpus de plusieurs milliers d’articles de la presse française. Il s’agit de revenir d’abord sur une extraction numérique affinée par des marqueurs génériques (identifiés préalablement) et de réfléchir, à partir d’elle, aux déclinaisons génériques du reportage et aux profils de reporters ainsi identifiés. Nous le ferons notamment à la lumière de la poétique du support et de l’étude plus détaillée de quelques trajectoires professionnelles.

Pierre-Carl Langlais (Université Paul Valéry – Montpellier 3, RIRRA21 / CELSA, GRIPIC, Sorbonne Université) :  « Où est passé le reportage ? Un prototype d’explorateur de corpus de presse numérisée ». Les premières études engagées par NUMAPRESSE ont mis en évidence les apports et les limites de la classification automatisée. La nécessité d’une modélisation beaucoup plus fine du reportage nous apparaît nécessaire. Elle pourrait intégrer notamment l’identification de métadonnées déjà présentes dans le texte : nom de l’auteur et/ou des organisations signataires, date et lieu d’expédition du texte, statut de l’auteur (« correspondant particulier », « envoyé spécial »), lieux, personnes et événements décrits dans le texte… Ce repérage des marqueurs du reportage sera grandement facilité par les apports de spécialistes de cette forme.
